Protection systems of the desalination or cooling systems
The water that feeds the desalination plants must be filtered to separate the contaminant that could clog the osmotic membranes of the desalination plants.
For this purpose, Alfa Water has created different types of filters that can be used according to the following schemes depending on the origin of the water (fresh-sea water, recirculation).
Application schemes
The pre-washed water from wells near the sea is filtered with AVC filters (100÷25µm) for the production of water by reverse osmosis (RO).
The seawater is filtered by AVC filters with 100µm filtration.
A second stage equipped with a band filter (ABF) with a 25µm filtration degree protects the reverse osmosis (RO) system.
River / lake water is filtered by ABV filters with 100µm filtration degree.
A second stage equipped with a band filter (ABF) with a 25µm filtration degree protects the reverse osmosis (RO) system.
River / lake water is filtered by ABV filters with 100µm filtration degree.
A second stage made up of multi-bag filters with HDPE body protects the reverse osmosis.
In this case, many suspended solids of high size and colloidal solids, silt etc. can be contained.
The most suitable filter in these cases is the ABV filter (200 ÷ 100µm) which combines the cleaning system with brushes for large solids with suction pads for the finer material deposited on the filter tissue.
Depending on the type of sea intake work, it is advisable to use upstream of the UF system:
a. AVC filter for medium-low SST content at size <1mm
b. ABV filter for high SST content even of large dimensions.
The band filter (ABF) can be used as a polishing unit after sand filtration.
In these cases the filter can ensure filtration up to 15µm.
The reverse osmosis (RO) is protected by a first stage equipped with a sand filter followed by a vacuum band filter (ABF) with a 10µm filtration degree.
